Alex Salmond acquitted of all charges
Former first minister of Scotland Alex Salmond has been acquitted of all charges against him.
A jury of 9 women and 5 men returned a not proven verdict on one charge and found him not guilty of all other charges.
The trial was heard at the High Court in Edinburgh.
He had always protested his innocence and when first charged described the indictment as ridiculous.
Mr Salmond, wearing his trademark saltire tie, showed little emotion as the verdicts were read out.
He turned to the two court security officers and said “thank you” to each of them.
Judge Lady Dorrian discharged Mr Salmond and he said: “Thank you my lady,” before leaving the courtroom.
