Labour lord brags that he got BBC to stop giving health advice to Scots

Senior Labour Party members have openly bragged about getting BBC Scotland to stop showing daily health briefings about the coronavirus pandemic because they felt First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was getting too much air time.

Lord George Foulkes published a social media post on his Twitter account congratulating himself and MSP Jackie Baillie after the pair made representations to the BBC urging the public broadcaster to effectively pull the plug on the government’s daily health briefings.

The self congratulatory tweet attracted criticisms from right across the country as Scots raged about how elderly relatives who are not internet savvy are now expected to get vital public health information.

Former Daily Record editor Murray Foote weighed in with a stinging rebuke, he sarcastically quipped: "Scottish Labour must be so proud".

Thousands have since organised a petition to urge the BBC to reconsider. With yet more pledging to join those already boycotting paying the TV licence as a result of this decision.
